Grampians One Day Tour Itinerary

The Great Ocean Road is a popular trip in Victoria that showcases the beauty of the coastal drive, including pristine beaches, fresh rainforest, and rugged limestone rock formations.

The 12 Apostles are iconic rock formations near Port Campbell National Park in Victoria. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery and learn about the history and stories that have shaped this coastline from our knowledgeable guides.

After leaving Melbourne, we travelled to the Surf Coast and passed through seaside townships like Anglesea, Lorne, and Airey’s Inlet. We stop for morning tea and enjoy the fresh sea air while watching surfers in the water. Due to the proximity to Antarctica, you will understand why the surf here is excellent and why wet suits are essential.

Make a stop at the Great Ocean Road monument, which signifies the original starting point of the Great Ocean Road. After taking some photos at the well-known Memorial Arch and learning about the history of the soldiers who constructed this road as a tribute to their fallen comrades, we will continue on our journey, enjoying breathtaking scenery along the way (and, of course, pausing for photo opportunities!).
During the journey, there will be stops on the Great Ocean Road with the opportunity to spot wild Koalas. Please note that we cannot guarantee their presence as they are wild animals, but our experienced guides are familiar with the best locations in the bush where they may be found sleeping.
At guests ‘ expense, a lunch break is taken in Apollo Bay, which is approximately 45 minutes. After exploring Apollo Bay, purchasing souvenirs, or trying some ice cream, it’s time to get back on the bus to the Great Otway National Park inland.

Continuing the Great Ocean Road, we reach the Great Otway National Park. The hills here are lush and green. Driving past tall Eucalyptus trees, we come across a Cool, Temperate Rainforest patch. The scenery changes drastically as we walk through the tree ferns and admire the ‘ancient relics’ of Myrtle Beach trees.

These trees offer excellent shade and date back to when Australia was part of Gondwanaland. Please take a deep breath of fresh air before we drive to the dramatic Shipwreck Coast for a relaxing experience.

After leaving the trees and returning to the Southern Ocean, we reach Port Campbell National Park, known for the iconic 12 Apostles. Visitors will have approximately 40 minutes to explore the Apostles, allowing them to appreciate the views from every perspective, stroll along the boardwalks, and capture the perfect images of this untamed and rugged coastline.

In the National Park, visitors can explore Loch Ard Gorge, famous for being the site of one of Australia’s most well-known shipwrecks. They can also learn about the dramatic tale of Tom and Eva and explore the beach to search for caves. Additionally, the area showcases various rock formations like Island Archway, Razorback, and the ‘Salt and Pepper Shakers’.

After a day of exploring, we left the Great Ocean Road and headed back to Melbourne through country roads. We drive through farmlands on our way to the town of Colac. If you want, you can grab dinner here (at your own expense) before we arrive back in Melbourne around 8:30 pm.
