| Wellington Shire's Maffra Visitor Information Centre is located in the historic Maffra Courthouse building located in Johnson St, adjacent to the Maffra Post Office. A courthouse full of the most intriguing gems, crystals, fabulous fossils and fluorescent minerals from Australia and around the world. Come in and relax with a real coffee.
Open five days between 10am-4pm, the centre offers visitors an extensive stock of brochures and local guides, art & craft, souvenir postcards and is an ideal base for visiting the foothills and journeying into Wellingtons High Country areas of Licola and Dargo.
Built in 1888, the Courthouse has been completely refurbished inside and includes the specially designed show cases to house the Pino Deriu Collection of minerals and gemstones. This impressive collection complements the beautiful restored Baltic Pine floor. The collection was donated by Pino to the people of Maffra so that they and the many visitors would enjoy the benefit of his many years of putting together this very valuable Gemstone and Mineral collection.
