Getting Here
Wellington is located approx 2.5 hours east of Melbourne. Wellington is easily accessible via its well serviced rail, roads and airports, so whichever route you wish to take, you will be able to enjoy its unique beauty.
From Melbourne:
An easy two and a half hour drive, with rural views, passing through quaint villages along the M1 freeway. From Melbourne, exit via Citylink and travel along the M1 Freeway following the signs to Warragul. Continue past Warragul, and Traralgon and you will reach Rosedale, the first town within Wellington. No turn offs are necessary because the M1 freeway becomes the A1 which transverses Wellington from West to East. The principal city of Wellington, Sale is located on the A1 approx 210km from Melbourne. Clear signposting along the freeway (M1) to Sale makes your road trip here stress free.
From Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine):
An easy drive along the City link electronic tollway proceeding towards the south eastern suburbs continuing past Warragul and Traralgon on the M1 free way then the A1 to Wellington. From the New South Wales border:
Wellington is accessed via the Princes Highway (A1) from the East coast if you are travelling from the NSW border. You will pass major towns including Lakes Entrance and Bairnsdale before you reach Wellington's principal city, Sale. It is approximately 80 mins from from Lakes Entrance.
From South Gippsland - (Wilson's Promontory):
Wellington is accessed via the A 440 (South Gippsland Highway) if you are travelling from South Gippsland, Wilsons Promontory or Phillip Island. Major towns on route include Leongatha, Foster & Yarram. The first town in Wellington travelling North via the A440 is Alberton with Yarram nearby.
By Rail
V/Line rail services offer visitors to the area a comfortable and direct journey along its well serviced routes from Melbourne (departing Southern Cross Station - Formerly Spencer Street). By Air
