Discover the Historic Swing Bridge The Discover the Historic Swing Bridge brochure details the history of the National Trust Classified Swing Bridge located at the junction of the Thomson and Latrobe Rivers downstream from Sale. River Heritage & Wetlands Trail This heritage trail offers a kaleidoscope of riverine and wetlands scenery in addition to heritage places, all marked with interpretive plaques. The trail begins at the Wellington Visitor Information Centre and extends as far south as the celebrated Swing Bridge at the junction of the Thomson and Latrobe rivers. The return journey, if you so choose, takes in Sale’s beautiful lakes – Guyatt and Guthridge, as well as the historic Powder Magazine. |

Lake Guthridge Parklands Major features of the parklands include the many remaining historic trees planted in the late 1800’s as well as remnant indigenous Redgums some dating back 300 years. There are over four kilometres of trails to enjoy incorporating an Indigenous Art Trail around Lake Guyatt. As well as the abundance of birdlife visiting the parklands there is a contemporary fauna enclosure set into a landscaped natural environment with excellent viewing opportunities. Combined with the Sensory Gardens, the Lake Guthridge Parkland precinct provides a delightful setting for enjoying a leisurely few hours. |
